Relaunch My Life

THREE WAYS TO MAKE YOUR LIFE FEEL LIKE A HOLIDAY

I just got back home from the most beautiful time away. I spent 2 weeks in Bali around hosting my third and final women’s retreat there, and had a week in Koh Samui and Koh Phagnan (Thailand) with Paul.

As I shared in this week’s Podcast, the most interesting aspect about this recent holiday was just how much it didn’t feel all that different to my normal daily life. Because my life honestly feels as wonderful as what I feel like when I’m on holidays.

I’m not writing this to brag, I’m writing this because it surprises me! Holidays used to be such a contrast and something I craved deeply.

Listen live to the Podcast:

You see, I have the belief that everyone deserves to feel the way they do when they are on holiday – all the time.

That’s not to say we all shouldn’t get things done, but it’s to remind us that in everything we do, we can do so in a relaxed manner. As relaxed as if we are on a holiday. I believe our relaxed and open state is our most powerful state.

So in today’s blog I want to share 3 simple tips you can employ to start making your life feel more like a holiday.

The reason I think going to places like Bali and Thailand is so relaxing is because the locals are so relaxed. And so, we get the joy of dropping into their morphogenic field, and feeling relaxed.

I heard recently some Balinese locals call us (tourists) the ‘worried ghosts’ because to them, our faces look so pale, so worried, so stressed out.

As we look at their humble homes and simple lives, I often wonder if we are the ones they pity – seeing the worry, unrest and lack of life in our eyes.

So, for the purpose of supporting you to live your most fulfilling life, my first tip is to:

1) Be around people who are relaxed, or attend events designed to support your relaxation.

There are so many around these days, yoga and meditation workshops, my upcoming Energy & Mindset workshop, Reiki, aerial restorative classes, massages, even sound baths!

Trust me, being around relaxed people reminds us to be more relaxed. Take a breath. Pause… you weren’t born to rush and hurry stressed through your existence.

For my second tip, I really noticed how amazing it is before you go on holiday, that we tend to ‘tie off’ all loose ends in our lives! We finish those things we have been procrastinating about, and maybe even empty the fridge out! Those jobs that just ‘have to be done’ somehow get done because you know you won’t be home for a few weeks.

So, my second tip is to:

2) Do the things you have been putting off on a daily basis!

‘Eat That Frog’ as Brian Tracy would coin.

That is, get the least enjoyable task out the way first thing in your day, that way you can enjoy the rest of your day!

Just like when you go on holiday and have ‘pens down’ for a week or two, if each and every day you imagine you can only work for a few hours – you can get the difficult or less than enjoyable work done (with a deadline) and out the way in a short burst, and then you can play and do the things you love to do! Instead of work hard / play hard, I believe in ‘work smart’ – so you can play forever!

And, so lastly, what else do we do when we go on holiday?

Well, for most of us when we go overseas we feel the freedom of turning off our data and international roaming and setting our voicemail.

We often are out of WIFI zones and are ‘uncontactable’.

Isn’t that a beautiful feeling?

So, my third tip to start making your life feel more like a holiday is to:

3) Turn your phone on flight mode between 8pm and 8am. Become uncontactable and get relaxed. Get into nature, go for a walk, meditate, journal, eat breakfast slowly, take your time, focus on you.

I know even if you just take on board one of these steps your life will feel different.

But remember, above all, it is what we are ‘thinking’ about what we are doing that makes the most difference.

If you tell yourself you’re stressed out, well you’ll be that way (and look for more things that confirm that to be the case). If you tell yourself all the ways that you can be relaxed about what is happening in your life then you know that your life can start feeling as relaxed and peaceful as you are when you are on holiday.

I believe our natural state is a relaxed and open state, and I believe life would be so much easier, in flow and more enjoyable if we all made a daily commitment to live and work in this state.

And so, if you want more you can listen to this week’s Podcast, join me at my upcoming workshop and be sure to comment below with which step you are going to take on board today.
