5 THINGS YOU SIMPLY MUST TO DO TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS

We all want to be successful.

So, why is it that some people are, and others aren’t?

Why do some people achieve their goals, and others don’t?

Well, for the past 5 year’s I’ve become fascinated in studying the behaviours of people who succeed and those who keep, well, going around in the same circles but not progressing.

And I want to share these 5 things you simply MUST do if you want to achieve your goals in life.

So, what are the 5 things you simply MUST do to achieve your goals?

  1. Number ONE – you MUST have the right beliefs. So many people set a goal but deep down, don’t believe they can achieve it. What’s the point of that? If you have limiting beliefs around an area you’re setting goals in you may as well stop now, because you’ll self sabotage and get sporadic results. If you really want to achieve your goals then self-work and clearing any subconscious belief patterns is KEY. This really is about overcoming those fears and doubts, because although they FEEL very real, they aren’t!
  2. Number TWO – Determine whether you have the skills you need to achieve your goals. Often what we do is focus only on the areas in life we are already succeeding in! If we are successful in our career, we can focus solely on that and ignore other areas in life that don’t appear to be as successful. The biggest area of weakness is the biggest area of opportunity! So, focus on the areas that feel uncomfortable, and you’ll change a lot more than if you keep working in the area that’s already working! Now, sometimes in areas we are struggling with it can indicate what I’ve mentioned above, that there are negative beliefs or limiting thoughts holding you back, but other times it can indicate a lack of SKILLS. So, you need to determine if it’s a confidence or a competence issue that needs to be resolved. You see, you can be confident in an area but not have the required skills to achieve. Whereas, on the other hand you can be competent in an area but totally lack confidence – you need to have both in order to succeed.
  3. Number THREE – Make sure your goals support your values. If you don’t know what your values are, ask yourself ‘what’s important to be about life’? And keep asking the question to elicit your values. Then sort and prioritise the list to come up with your 3-5 highest values in life. You see, if your goals may negatively impact one or two of your values then you’re likely to feel very unmotivated to achieve them! So make sure you’re aligned with your values and goals are going to support what matters to you in life. And a good indication of your values is what you spend most of your time doing. Now, in Master Practitioner of NLP we teach you to understand your values, to discover them in specific areas of life (eg, what’s important to me in a relationship, or about money) and help people shift their values as well, and this is truly fascinating in creating long-lasting change. Values are soo incredibly important, so don’t set any goals without knowing what matters most to you in life and how your goals will support that!
  4. Number FOUR – What is your ENERGY saying about what you want to achieve? If you set goals and you’re feeling crap, then the goals you set are likely to be …. well, crap! You want to ensure you’re in a positive, energised and magnetic state of being when you set goals and when you think about them. If you have no energy you have no motivation, so be sure to focus your energy in positive and resourceful ways, and this includes your TIME.
  5. Number FIVE – for number FIVE, make sure you are clear WHY your goal matters to you and also write it out with CLARITY. If your goals aren’t written down, then they aren’t really goals. So take pen to paper (now…!) and take the time to plan your future. No one else will do it for you!
