THE 4 THINGS THAT HAPPEN TO WOMEN WHEN WE FEEL UNSAFE

The world is changing so quickly.

Gone are the days of one job, one TV channel, one option for dinner. There is an overwhelming amount of information available to us these days, and I don’t know if it’s healthy for us anymore.

There are more Facebook Groups and Social Media Notifications than we have time to check and respond to.

We get more emails in a day now than we used to get in a whole month.

And what was once a newspaper delivered once a day is now a newsfeed refreshed every 5 seconds.

What I am really noticing is due to how rapidly the world is changing, the amount of signs of how UNSAFE people seem these days, and especially us women.

Unsafe in careers, in relationships, in new projects, in what to eat and what to wear. It seems like everyone else has life figured out, is doing better than you are and that plants a deep seed of insecurity.

And what happens to us women when we feel unsafe?

We step into our masculine side…

Personally, I have felt acutely vulnerable the closer I get to my book launch. It’s been fascinating to notice the signs where I have felt unsafe, how I have acted and the unusual emotions surfacing.

There are signs of insecurity and feeling unsafe everywhere, and I want to share 4 of them to look out for with you.

So, what happens to us women when we feel unsafe?

And what can we do about it?

There are 4 key signs to watch out for:

  1. UNBALANCED – You may become moody or push people away and hide. You become a martyr and distract yourself with cleaning the house, sorting and to do lists, perfectionism, and taking everything on yourself. You don’t ask for help and have a tendency to overthink. You get so busy ‘doing’ that you don’t take time to think about if the activities we are doing are going to bring the right results. Eventually, you get exhausted and either have an emotional release or slip into one of the other signs.
  2. CONFUSION – In this stage, you might surrender your own power and make everyone else an expert on your life, in outsourcing making decisions and asking others for advice. But, in the process ask so many different people that you end up not knowing whose advice to take and eventually shut down to all help. You might even find reasons the advice doesn’t work because you feel unsafe and deep down are afraid of taking any action.
  3. SHUT DOWN – In the ‘shut down’ stage, you can have a tendency to freeze in a state of inaction and shut down emotionally. You might block your loved ones out and even block intimacy. You can get stuck in a loop of being afraid to act, but at the same time feel guilty for not acting – not knowing which step to take.
  4. OVERWHELM – Finally, once it all gets too much you step into overwhelm and do one of two things:

Either you step more firmly into your masculine and start acting and pushing for results from a place of fear which only perpetuates the problem.

OR

You connect to your heart, your intuition and your internal mother.

You start acting from a place of love. Firstly for yourself.

You see, the answer is always to feel empowered to find the answers inside you.

To see yourself as whole and enough.

To know your strengths and connect to your intuition.

To stay with your heart open and not shut your loved ones out or hide parts of yourself away with them.

To be kind and loving towards yourself during this time.

And to seek the truth that lies within your own heart.

Safety, like confidence, fulfilment and inner peace comes from within.

Nothing external can give you those feelings. Not for long anyway…

As a coach, the proudest moment is when a client says they trust the truth in their own heart, and start making decisions based on their internal teacher.

As a spiritual teacher, I love when a student has learned all they need to from me in this life and finds their next spiritual teacher.

As a retreat facilitator, I love that two of my retreat guests last year are now running their own Bali retreats, and the Pilates Instructor I co-hosted a retreat with last month now feels confident to run her own retreats.

To me, a sign of a great leader is how many leaders they create.

And I am proud of all the women I have walked alongside with over these past few years in my life’s work for stepping into their own truth, for finding the answers within and for realising that they are whole and enough and stepping up into their life’s work.

The reason I teach Reiki, Yoga and all my workshops is to provide a safe space and opportunity to guide women back into their internal mother, their inner truth.

Because I already see you as whole. Because I see you as enough. And I will hold your hand long enough for you to realise that. I had many wise teachers hold my hand in my journey until I realised I could find the answers inside myself.

Now truly is the time of the rise of the female entrepreneur and there are many women still holding themselves back in fear. Feeling unsafe to step out.

It’s a tough world for us women right now as we learn to feel safe to soften and surrender to our sacred feminine sides whilst navigating the competitive masculine driven business world.

So, what magic is formed when we do feel safe?

We thrive. We flourish. We create. We love. We heal. We feel. We take care of ourselves and fellow women. We are confident. We are brave. We change the world. We connect the world back to the Earth. Back to the heart.

I know that I want to see a world full of both women and men thriving.

I want to see women feeling empowered, but not through the disempowerment of men.

And it starts with the women feeling safe to find our own power within.

And for the men to support their women in accessing this power.

As over half of my subscribers are male, I have a deep sense of faith for the balance of masculine and feminine in the world.

And so, for the men out there, how can you help your adored women feel safe?

Do what my partner does for me when I am going through a growth and uncertainty shift.

Hold her hand as she cries with the throes of the emotions of uncertainty in her life.

Listen to her speak from her deep, dark soul without fear of her ever leaving you.

Grow with her, don’t let her explore the unique corners of this changing world alone.

And as often as you can, hold her in your strong arms and tell her she is safe.
