Relaunch My Life

WE DON’T MAKE OUR DREAMS HAPPEN, WE LET THEM

“Welcome to The Dream Life Diary – Week 18”

DREAM

– Journal entry, Tuesday 8th August 2016 –

The past week I’ve had a head cold. I haven’t been sick for over 2 years… but I think the aftermath of travelling for 2 months straight and finally stopping caught up with me.

Being sick for the first time in years, I took my time to fully surrender to it.

I took baths and rested on the couch, did yoga classes (on Youtube) for immunity and healing the cold and flu. I drank tea and juices and made a different soup every second day. I thanked my body for healing me. I took the much needed, enforced rest.

In the past I would have pushed myself to keep working and persevere. Before I started Relaunch My Life, in nearly 7 years of being an employee at my office job I took a total of 4 sick days…

God, how many of us do that?

But this new path I’m on allows for nothing less than overwhelming compassion. And I can only be as compassionate to others to the extent I am being compassionate to myself.

I am signed up to do Yoga Teacher Training in October, so I have to adopt the yogic philosophies as a way of life.

This goal is helping me focus. I believe big long term goals and commitments help us develop better daily and weekly habits.

But what happens when life feels too uncertain to make a long term goal? We have so much fear drummed into us on a daily basis, it can seem pointless setting a goal because the odds can seem stacked against you.

And what if your long term goals feel wayyyy too big to be realistic in your current life?

“Be realistic, plan for a miracle”, Osho says. And I tend to agree!

Because I can remember that just under 3 years ago, after I’d left my (now ex) husband I listened to a meditation which guided me to imagine my perfect day in 3 years time. And to allow that perfect day to unfold, despite how different it may seem to the present day reality.

The picture I visualised involved waking up and putting on pilates/yoga clothing and teaching a class nearby, going home to a house by the beach and making a smoothie bowl for breakfast and then seeing a client (for what I didn’t know what for) and having a meal at night with someone I loved dearly.

It seemed like a fairytale, and I was sure there was no way I could have a life like that.

At the time I was still working in my office job and had no idea how I would make that dream happen.

I hadn’t met Paul yet, I was really lost and my body was still in a severe amount of anxiety every day.

And that’s just it.

I didn’t MAKE my dreams happen… I LET my dreams happen.

What I mean is:

  • I didn’t force, I allowed…
  • I didn’t think, I felt…
  • I didn’t orchestrate, I invited…
  • I didn’t direct, I was guided…
  • I didn’t try, I played…
  • I didn’t stop, I paused patiently…
  • I didn’t start, I continued on…
  • I didn’t fail, I reassessed…

I realise there is a big difference.

Because the magic of how to get what you want truly is everywhere… we just have to stop, breathe and let it in.

DIARY

– A question for your diary/journalling practice –

QUESTION:

What are you trying to force to happen in your life right now? How does it feel to breathe and say to yourself ‘this has already been taken care of, I just have to let ‘the how’ flow to me.” ?
